I am looking for a new pair of carbon finns. Everyone knows they are expensive and i dont wish to spend money for something wrong. I beleive that many brands are very good but each body matches a different brand.
I am 1.67m tall and 62kg in weight. (probably these are factors one should consider too cause this is what the finns are going to push up or down) My ideal finns must be good for long surface swimms as well as deep dives too. Some guys say that there are finns that give you a better push than other finns ( X 1.5 more) Maybe the length of the finn is important to. I am used to medium - hard plastic finns . Many guys like the C4. I never tried them but i feel they are a bit too wide, thus giving a big probability that you hit the finns to each other when finning, making useless noises that scare the fish. I also like soft foot pockets.
Thanks for anyones interest in this tread
Best regards

Albert, The C4's Falcon are very narrow, no idea why you think they are wide. For your size and weight a 25 stiffness (medium - soft) would be great. Often carbon blades are sold without the footpockets, and whilst this seems like a pain, it is the best way to go to get a perfect fin. Good luck.

I am always scared to determin the stiffness of the blades. I use 5kg when i dive -18m to -22m and 3kg when diving 23m to 30m always with a 5mm siute so I need a good push to go down and overcome gravity as well as to push my self up for the first 10 meters. I think with medium soft I will not have any push at all. Just thinking not judging.

for your height a medium fin will do ok
C4 are 19 cm wide , a normal plastic fin is 21 cm
C4 rubber rails are biger then the rest on the market

i am 70Kg and 1.79m tall. I use C25 C4 Falcons. I can dive over 40m with them recreationaly (not line dives).

If you find them hard to start moving, it's either that you are over (if leaving the bottom) or under (if leaving the surface) weighted, OR that you need a better style.

You need a wide, slow, powerful stroke to get them moving, using your leg properly. After that you can modulate the power as needs be. Typically I take 5 or 6 powerful strokes at the start or ascent or descent.

For your complection, get soft blades. If C4 is your choice, go for 25 stiffness. They will push you where you want to go. Get also soft comfortable footpockets. Mares or Beuchat are the softest in the market.

When you ad surface swimming to the equation, I'd recommend you try C4-70 or 71 but they do require a wide kick. Big strong divers say that they feel like noodles but I know one diver used them to 75 meters plus and there's one old man who used them to 60+ many times. On the surface they are almost unbeatable.
