hi guys can you help me hoe to keep my rubbers in good conditions. i dnt want to waste my rubbers. and how long does it takes to change a rubber of a speargun im noob in this pls help. and its not easy to buy a rubbers here in our country cause the dive shops here dosnt sell rubbers of spearguns. thnks

Hi Earl, lots of us buy our speargun rubber in long lengths "bulk rubber" so we can replace the bands when necessary & tie our own whishbones.
Best to keep your bands out of the sun & wash with fresh water after a dive.
Some folk even store their bands in the fridge!
It is not that difficult to tie you own bands so my advice would be to try & order some bulk rubber.
I cant really say how long they will last, I change mine once a year but it depends on how often you go?

there are lots of muzzle covers out there to use when you are not using ur gun, im sure you can whip one up, just to cover the bands from the sun when on a boat or resting on the beach.

Hi Earl1220,

If you have room in your Freezer , the bands also hold up nicely in the freezer

I make sure to Dry them, and then wrap in saran wrap cacoon

also a close freind of mine has a nice roll of rubber in his freezer its from Jack Prodanovich's 1992 Hi Mod Batch
he cut me a few feet last year the stuff looked great !!

cheers ,,,,,,Joe

be careful with the freezer. Fresh rubber is ok but if you have taken the rubber into the ocean the water molecules in the rubber will freeze and break down the rubber when frozen.

Thanks alot guys for the tips i know how to tie the bands but my spear is a ezclapez and has a threaded rubbers. you now what i mean.but i have a homemade speargun and thats my first gun ive used and i tie my own rubber to . ill try to buy it in bulk if theres a chance . thanks guys
