How to Spearfish Codfish

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

I am wondering where I can find Codfish. I will be diving in the Pacific (West Canada) and noticed they are allowed to be speared but I don't remember seeing them on my last trips there. any suggestions would be great. Their habits, how the tide affects them etc.
