Hello everybody,
I am new in this forum and I tried to read all the tips and advice from the beginners forums. I realised that it would be beneficial if I take a course in free diving but i still have some time before I can take the course so I am curious what I can do in the time before my course to really enjoy myself.

At the moment i am just beginner, I try to swim at least twice a week, I am not great but usually I swim 1000 m in the 50 m pool. I can hold my breath on land for 2 and half minute.

I am interested in freediving as a way to move in the water and feel the element..so my goals are quite humble..to be able to dive up to 30 m and stay underwater for reasonable time.

does anybody has any suggestions what sort of training and acitivitires I can do in my own?

thank you for help, sorry if I posted here, you probably answered it milion times already.

the first step is, get a diving buddy! freediving alone is very dangerous(even in a pool, hell even in a bathtub! )

in your pool, can you do a whole length without breathing?

next step would be to make yourself a neck weight(search de forums) so you drag less in the water.

then participate in an AIDA freediving training.

check out O2/CO2 tables for dry static pratice.

hope this helped, welcome to DB!

Cheers,
Guy

Thanks for reply.

i am interested also about other forms of help in freediving..i am sure i will a course and a buddy, i am not overmotivated to dive (and die) already. So what i am looking for is any activity which in some way can help me improve my performance in the water. i think improving my swimming is a good thing, doing tables as well. is it there anything else i should do to help me in freediving in the future?

I believe doing tables will be your safest bet for now.

meditation and stretching will also help out greatly.

Hope this helps,
Guy
