How usefull are FLASHERS???

hi
i just made a flasher from a bunch of cds glued back to back, then cut into 4 pieces each with a knife heated by a blowtorch. it was quite amusing and looks pretty attractive to me, but will it attract fish???
how useful are flashers?? where and how should they be used?? what kinds of fish like them??
