so if you could tell me how to make them it would relly help
thanks breamer

No offense but is it, howiian or hawaiian?
or maybe it's me who ignorant..

Well, many posting about hawaiian that i want repost, but maybe i can tell you the key..
What you need is :

1. Shaft
- small shaft like 6mm is sucked, it zig zag in the water expecially when more than 1 meter long.
- use 7.56mm or higher as long as you dont mind the weight, it's more accurate.

2. Rubber
- Well you will surprise to knowing that smaller rubber give more speed.
- use 5mm rubber
- or if you cant get any, use 3mm(thickness) and 1cm (wide) of tire rubber.
- rubber should be 1/3 shaft long.

3. Handle
- You can make up something that fix your hand (maybe like gun or just stick). as long as it dont weight to much. (wood is better here as long as it's float)

Now,
- make a hole in your handle that fix shaft diameter.
- tie rubber at the rear of handle.
- You're done.

want more complex one? search the net

also you dont have to buy a shaft you can get one off a car in a junk yard the trunk or boot of the car has these rods that make it spring up those rods are great shafts they are spring steel they work really well with slings you can lose one and you dont have to worry about it! You can also use them for guns but you have to weld them to gether they are a little too short for guns as is.

Buy a sling online, they are cheap and approx $25. Use thin shafts, for speed and range. Thick heavy shafts will lose range and will get you tired quicker. Thin shaft will ONLY zig-zag when its BENT. Band lenght/thickness is personal preference, depends on your strenght and arm span.

I use Hawaiian Sling and Polespear in Bahamas (no spearguns allowed), and with some practice you can land big fish with it. However, it will humble you many times, and teach you better fish stalking skills as the range/power is shorter than with the gun.

PS "Hawaiian" Sling was invented in Florida....nobody knows how it got "Hawaiian" in there LOL

Hope this helps

uh..I think the reason why its called a hawaiian sling is because it was invented in hawaii... Hawiian slings are just upgraded versions of most slings that pacific islanders use. I've used both types.

Not really. (tedbudion quote) One of those weird things, if developed in Florida, why is it called Hawaiian sling anyway?

I once asked Art Pinder this; Art hunted with the original slings with his brothers in the 40s. He said "beats me, it should have been Florida sling for crying out loud!". As far as I know, the original weapon of choice in Hawaii was always the polespear, inspired on the ancient patia (handspear) of the Polynesians.
