Normally the water is pea soup or chocolate milk up here. Today, however, was a brilliant exception. A friend and I went out for an afternoon dive near Trinidad, CA. The vis was spotty between 10 and 20 feet. We got into some VW bug-sized boulders--excellent structure--and saw many ling cod and HUGE black rock fish. I bagged two lings (one of which is a personal best), a black, and a blue rockfish. My dive buddy got a ling, and two very nice cabezon--another personal best there. All in all it was a beautiful day diving. We saw many colorful fish, sculpins and several abalone too.

hopefully the visibility will hold for a few days. Can't wait to get out again. Pictures hopefully will be coming.

cheers,

kelpwolf

I'd love to see those pics. How often do you get decent viz?

Not the best pictures. But that's what you get when you set a timer. :)

I can count the days of great visibility on one or two hands. Good vis up here is 4-7 ft--that comes along maybe a couple days every few weeks or so. cheers,

And I thought that we had bad vis over here, 4-7 feet every few weeks and only for a couple of days if you’re lucky, fair play mate and well done on the fish.
