Hi for All!
I am new in this forum.
I am form Ukraine - and hunting for fish more like 10 years.
But Right now I am leaving in Switzerland (Olten). In this country in not allowed spearfishing. And I look possibility for hunting in 500 km from Olten.
First of all I want ask you reagrding Itally:
Need license for hunting?
What places you can recommend?
If somebody looking for partner for hunting I am ready.

Thanks in advance. :martial

Hi dparkhomenko, welcome to db.
I cant help you but someone will be along shortly that will be able to.

Ciao!
in Italy you don't need a license for spearfishing in the Sea, but you need a license for spearfishing in Lake (lake Garda is the closest spot for you).
Anyway, if you don't like freshwater, the closest good Sea for you to go is Liguria. Stay away from the upper Adriatic: flat sandy bottoms and crap viz.
Some tips here (Sea, province of Genoa, Liguria)
http://forums.deeperblue.com/european/71754-diving-italy.html
and here (lake Garda).

Please feell free to ask for more info.

thank's spaghetti!!!
when i will ready for hunting by time. I will be in contact with you.
I general i like freshwater hunting- i do this 90% of hunting!!!:martial

Hi Spaghetti!!!

I planning go to fresh water in December lake Garda. What place can you recommend for me? I planning drive by car From Lucern(Suisse). And additional question for you:
in December - temperature of water? How clear water(meter which you can see)?
And if it is not complicate for you, please indicate some technics for hunting in this region.
Thank's in advance.
Furthermore if you can please invite for hunting and cup of tee!

Well I like your wonderful entusiasm, but I have to warn you it's not the ideal season for lake spearing: locals don't normally spearfish in december. The water temp may drop to 8°C and the fish (eels, pike, tench and perch) go very deep during the winter.
If you don't mind diving in cold water we can arrange to meet, but we're not going to see much fish except for white mullet and the occasional black bass.

You're welcome anyday :) but if you come from March it's going to be much more fun huntingwise :martial
When in december were you planning to come over?

So, I hunting in Russia in very cold water +3 degree. And twice time in year we are hunting in Volga river - air -4 water +3. But we are not goo more like 15 meter. I have to much fotos from hunting with fish. If you have a E-mail, or I can post it in forum like fotos from Russia.
You see, I can get to you any day, but my equipment for COLD now in Russia. To way When I have a flight I can bring to Suisse, another I can buy suit localy. 7 mm it is ok for +8? I hunting +3 with 10 mm open sell Yamamoto matherial.
I cannot be more like 30 days without hunting.
Any way I can drive to you for one - two days... If you have some SPA hotel I can take with me my wife and sun...
Maybe next week if I have a correct date - I will inform you.
Now I have localy - fins, but for 5 mm sucks:(, Mask, tube, belt weight, waistcoat weigt,
Need now -gun and suit and buoy.
I Russia in winter - very clear water!!
So,
your comments.
We cannot hunting with lights?

I think 7mm suit is okay for a Russian ;-)
Don't worry for spearguns. I'll PM you later for more details after a bit of reasoning.

Spago whats the spearing like in italy these days? I went to an island of greece, to get any decent fish it was 30m plus.

Joe this topic is about freshwater (it is legal to spearfish in the three major lakes here) but it's no season for lakes: too cold, and fish sink deep for the cold season (lakes are up to 340 meters deep, just to give you an idea).
In the Sea it's all another thing. At Sea, the winter is much better huntingwise than lakes. It's seabass mating season, the sea is a few degrees warmer than lakes and it's realively fishy inshore (bass, bluefish, breams...).

Ah ok my bad, I wish it was seabass mating season in the UK ! Do you still get in much?

Not this year. Some 5 years ago I had to face 2 alternatives: live by the sea with an awful job, or move up north to the lake to accept a fairly decent position. I chose the second one but hey, lake spearing is fun for 9 months a year, and the sea is after all only 2 hours drive away.
It's the freetime I'm lacking. And permission from my missus. :blackeye
