Hurghada - places to play

Righto, me and my lovely coach have booked our tickets for the World Championships in Hurghada in December. The comp finishes on the 11th, and we don't fly out till 4pm on the 14th.

As the last thing on my mind will be jumping back into the water after the comp, what are some things we can do around Hurghada for a couple of days? I'm sort of thinking head off to Luxor on the morning of the 12th, look at the Valley of the Kings on the 13th and come back on the 14th for my 4pm flight (so back by lunchtime i'm guessing).

Does that sound like a viable plan? Any alternative ideas? I know buggar all about the area and am basing my thoughts on the map in the lonely planet guide.

you can do Luxor and Valley of the Kings in a long day trip from Hurghada or an overnighter.

Speak to Sue Pugh, on our girls team, she lives out there and used to be a tour rep. I will email you her details

Luxor is definitely doable, other tan that, most of the activity in and around Hurghada is mainly around water activities.. maybe you could take up kite surfing in el gouna (20 Km north of Hurghada) :) cheers
 
My brother's into kite surfing back in Oz but I don't think my wife will be into it.

Maybe as someone suggested to me last night, go to a sheeshah bar and get her stoned for a week :D

thats funny,
i dont know what they told you about shisha, but it doesnt contain anything that would get your wife stoned :) she doesnt have to know that though :), you could put the whole "psychological High" concept into a real test :), there is an island called "el mahmeya" you take a boat from the sheraton jetty in Hurghada (you pay like 50 pounds (0.5 sterling) for the 45 minute trip), its a beautiful place lovely beach, great food, great music, colourful drinks, it feels lik the carribbean, i would definitely advise you to go there for one day, just to relax...you and your wife will enjoy it

Actually my flatmate has a sheesha and we have the cappucino tobacco at the moment. Smells fantastic but man is it sticky!
 
Smoking a sheesha is worse than smoking a cigarette! I would stick to kitesurfing!
