What do you guys think of a freshwater flasher. I think that these might attract perch, and crappies. And, quite frankly, what more can you ask for.

I am Crazy

Even if You are so what?

I am too but I am happy

Yo!

it's always worth a try- try it and let us know how it works- I've thought about it- but never tried it.

and yes..........you are crazy :D

I am working on it as we speak, I will post pictures later. So far I have a coffee can with quickcrete in it, then Im going to tie about 5-10 ft of fishing line onto that, and a small float at the top. Sealed milk jug? Then I will tie my various shinny things onto the fishing line. Any thoughts as to what might be good to go on the line? So far Im blank, I want things that are small and shinny, (I think baits will just attract larger game fish), So Im thinking just the metal parts off of some spoon baits? Thoughts, comments?

My first thought is that the coffee can with concrete is too much- maybe just using a 4# weight from a weight Belt. For Flashers- what about those Spoon things they use on Spinners- I know you can buy them in bulk at a Gander Mt. or something like that. I'm sure anything with "Bling" will work (a spoon, piece of mirror, your mom's jewelry, whatever)

go buy cheap jigs like panfis jigs and cut off the hook if you want its worked for me with bass bluegill and crappie round trees

sounds like this should work, ive had perch try to eat my swivels when fishing with a rod :head. seems like it would be something that you would set up then check on later instead of hanging out around it; instead of bluewater flashers where you wait for the game fish?

Thomas

Throw a couple of old CDs or DVDs on the line. Try to angle them so they catch the sunlight.

:)

You've done this? Ive got lots of the spoons like I said earlier, and CDs broken into little pieces is probably better than anything metallic. I think I will do some broken CDs. The coffee can is just what I use when I need an anchor, I know this sounds weird but I have a homemade "float" and I had a live well tied in the middle about 15', and then I would put old fish guts in there to attract fish. Worked somewhat. Itll be done by the end of the week. Just gotta go and grab some CDs. Also maybe some small panfish jigs? If this works it could be huge in Lake Michigan to bring the perch in or something. I wonder how long they will stay around once they realize the baits aren't real food? Also Ive been thinking about punching holes in cans of corn and then putting them in certain areas you would dive in Michigan. Corn brings in the carp like crazy, although I don't know whether or not that would be "chumming" and whether or not thats legal is Wisconsin.

I would use a light weight on the bottom. Enough to hold the line down, but not to put it on the bottom. The line on the marker/float is used to chage the depth. You want any waves to move the line and flashers up ad down imo.

dont know bout perch but yes to the other fish:martial never knew wat hit em.... an onother thing i dont remember which it is but there is an artifical bait for pan fish that really gets their attention they dont bite it 2 often but they all circle around it... il look at my stuff next time im at my cabin it might be good to have some of it on ur flash line too... an i think its at walmart 2 il have to check 4 u:friday

Cool, Id be good with it if it just brought in some big blues and some crappies. But the perch would be a dream come true. Not very many kinds of bass we can shoot here, and I don't really think its worth hunting down a rock bass to shoot it considering the readily available populations of better tasting fish. So far I have 2 CDs (Im going to cut them into strips that will go horizontal to the line, just flashing in the light as the thing turns, and then I will have plastics, okamota's wonder baits, and little spoons to reflect more light. I think with the spoons and the plastics, Im going to tie those onto pieces of line tied to "the" line. With a little something to make them neutrally buoyant, or at least float some. Creating a "bait ball". This is what Im doing while waiting for my favorite lakes to turn over. :head

sorry man but ur gona have 2 wait a bit i dont go to my cabin cept on weekends so a few more days...

Its cool, its a work in progress anyways. Im not going to be able to use it this weekend anyways!

if i remember right you can go look b4 i get up there i think its "powerbait" product but dont quote me one of the squishy ones like plastic worms but egg or paste not sure.... but walmart carries a lot of these baits now maynot hurt to go look...

Cool. Ill check it out sometime this weekend. It should be done in about a week. What with alterations and fine tuning.

Hey, I'm glad you clarified the definition of 'flasher' I was wondering what you were going to dangle out there in order to attract fish! The CD idea will surely work. There should be tons of Ashley Simpson CD's in the trash!

Well today i got more fishing line, a wieght, and soem spoons from cabelas. Okamotoa any idea on what those magic bluegill baits were?
