If you go to AIDA's website:

http://www.aida-international.org/current_world_records.htm

You'll see the following under "Static Discipline":

>>> NEW WR >>> Stéphane MIFSUD 8'24" 08/11/2003 and then "AIDA Recognition in progress"

If this occured back in August 2003 what is taking so long to recognize it ? Was there a problem with the attempt ? Is it the world record or not ? AIDA ?

Ok, this has to be a joke post. With a name like "Smellsfishy" and a post wondering about what makes AIDA tick, you must be trying to make some kind of statement.

It was actually meant as a serious post. I'm not trying to stir up more controversy. I think freediving has more than its share of controversy.

Can anybody from AIDA answer this ?

thanks,

Smellsfishy

AIDA Record page updated

The AIDA record page has now marked Stéphane MIFSUD 8'24" "NOT VALID"

Does anybody know the story behind this ?

thanks,

Smellsfishy / Meir
