I finally saw one

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Here is Dario at the Dana Point harbor boat launching ramp with his fish.

And for what its worth, the boat in the background in a guest slip, Special K, belongs to my friend Ron Mullins, a world class spearfisherman who just doesn't compete.

And behind that building in the background is the dry storage yard where I store my boat on the trailer. Those guest slips where Ron's boat sit are for tenants of the dry storage yard for $10 per night. When I'm going to go out two days in a row, its nice to rent a slip so I don't have to pull the boat out of the water and then launch it again the next day.

I'm stealing those photos from a thread on another board, but here is Dario with Dave, Dario cleaning the fish, Dario with the otoliths which will be made into earringsfor his girlfriend, and Dario cooking fish eggs and pasta.

I think he's happy.

It was tough, it took loads of days out, loads of work and loads of cold for an italian. I was so close to fail as the storm today probably marks the end of my diving but I did it and am sooooo happy. I will not forget california, I will not forget these ghosts and I will not forget the people I met. Great stuff and spearfishing is an awesome life style.

Next time somebody is gonna say spearfishing is easy I'm gonna kick their a...bottom.rofl

Bill congrats for your fish and thanks for taking me out. Although I missed that opportunity I had a very nice day.

It was a pleasure Dario.

Sorry to scoop you if you were going to start a thread, but I didn't realize you were a member here.

Great thread guys. Good to see such DB love spread across the Atlantic.

When you've got time Dario give us the full story to go with the pictures and how about the Hall of Fame (to go in there and sit alongside Bill's fish)?

Dave.

It's totally fine Bill. I was not actually thinking to post it on DB but it's a good idea. Thanks for the hint.

I posted the story in a new thread.

About the hall of fame, I think I already got enough and I cannot ask for more. Thanks anyway.

Don't worry I sort it all out. I'm glad you said yes as this is a great story and putting it on the HOF will mean that lots of spearo's in the future will be able to read your account and admire your catch.

Well done again.

Dave.

A British Italian with a white sea bass in the Hall of Fame?

What is this world coming too?

could be worse Bill, there might even be a British Chilean with a "mulata" in there too

The pretender has yet to usurp your throne your lordship as your 62lb-er still makes you the WSB king of HOF (and deservedly so).

It would have been a shame for dario's catch not to go in though as once entered it will always be currently available for DB members new and old to read about. Anyway it's in now so good job all round.

Dario has certainly shown us the way, or in my case the error of my ways. I was in California only a couple or so years ago and all I managed was a tee shirt from the dive shop opposite Montorey aquarium :vangry.

Dave.

Its great to have him in the hall of fame. A visitor dropping in on us and getting that fish makes it a special story. I only wish he had taken it the previous day when he was on my boat.

Well, it might have gone better for you if you had spoken our language and been able to better communicate your needs.
