hey...so i can hold my breath for awhile, but i start to get contractions around 1:30. the hardest for me is from 1:30 - 2:45ish. i guess it's hypercapnia(ugre to breath), and i've read threads about how to incresse it and they don't help really. correct me if i'm wrong, but the more times you hold your breath for lets say.. 3:00 the more you will get used to it? i think that's my problem i think.. i'm just not used to it even though it's not really bad.. has any one had this problem or still have this problem? in the threads they suggested to do like walking and holding your breath which i belive it helps a lot.. just not in the begining. i think having a 5:00pb static is great, but i hear people have their first contractions at like 2:30-3:30ish.. lol and i have them at 1:30 :duh i just don't quite know. you can give me like a simple anserw or whatever you please. the search option and i are great buddies...but i don't know..i don't mean to spam..but i like anserws flat out or sometime.. maybe just directed me to. sorry if this bugs you.... personally i think it would be great if we had more people in that chat room thingy.. maybe it's the time difference or people have to work, but no one is ever on usa wester time.. and it seeems like this whole website is very active at like 3am ... hehe...

thanks ^_^

A few simple factors that will help delay the breathing reflex:

-Warmups. Do at least 3-4 easy statics before the big one. Rest about 4-5 minutes in between
-Breathup, learning the proper breathing technique. Slow and relaxed diaphragm breathing. This is to ventilate your lungs, so that the amout of oxygen in your lungs is maximized (in normal breathing, there's so much dead space most of it is stagnant air). But if you continue too long/too much, you will hyperventilate, which is not good (in fact, it's dangerous)
-Proper eating. Fast at least 3 hours before the static. Avoid sugar, caffeine etc. Some will say avoid carbs all together
-Relaxation. Can't stress this enough. The more you relax, the less co2 you will produce and the less oxygen you will use
-Rest. I get the image from your posts that you train really hard. It's good up to a point, but you have to allow some rest to your self too. If you do max statics several days in a row, you breathing reflex will come much earlier than after a good rest, because of all the crap that it accumulates in your body.
-Training. There's no substitute for it. Just don't expect immediate results. It may take months or years of training to get there, but with enough training, you will. Just remember to rest too. "No pain no gain" is bullshit. If you don't give your body the time to recover from training not only will you "not gain", but actually cause damage to your body

hmmm,

quote: "...and i've read threads about how to incresse it and they don't help really."

so, how many months/years do you train statics already??

seems like you do expect magic progress straight away. take the recommendations that were given to you already and follow those for 2-3 months. don't focus on numbers and don't compare yours with those of others. do your own thing and learn. post your progress and your experiences and see what happens. it will all make more sense after you have trained a while and made some experiences yourself.

relax and enjoy :)

it's not about where you want to be but how you get there, really.

Slow down, be patient, enjoy the journey, lose the watch.
Peace,

lol i'm not good at being patient. i will try! that's what i kind of figured i have only been doing this for like a few weeks. maybe i am tried but now every other day will be track preseason training every other day so that will help me tooo i guess. i kind of figured that it would take time and all.. it's just like what you give is what you get isn't the case really here.. i mean sure but you can't really push yourself too much or your body will get tired easiler + contrations or w/e.

thanks guys/gals
