Had a chance to dive after very long break, around 4 months i guess. Its so long that i couldn't remmember. Anyway i setup my alarm to 7 am but manage to get out from the bed at 8 am. I was in water at 9 am. I decided to dive well known, over hunted, shallow place to do just some practice. I did not found anybody to dive so i decided to make some practice dive and test my gabbiano snake 110cm with double 16mm bands and 6.5mm spear. I swim to reef one hour long (it was taking only 30 minutes non stop 4 months ago, i think i am a bit offshape) anyway there was a group of dentex when i arrived. I shocked, it was well known area by all kind of fishers, spearos, anglers, netter, commercial fishers etc..etc.. and it was 10 am!!!! I droped my float weight, and made 3 consecutive dive and managed to spear 3 biggest fish of SAME group.I did not continue to shoot them since rest of the group was under 1 kg. Rest of the day i saw nothing as expected...They were 3,2,1 kg

Looks like diving missed you too and rewarded your return with a seemingly unexpected good catch. Funny alot of the times you go out expecting nothing and thats when you have your best dives :)

BIG congratulations mate, this is worth one trillion reputation points! BRILLIANT! I think I'll dry up for 4 months too if this is the final prize...:)
(for the information people from the outside world: dentex is the most cunning, shy and difficult fish in the Mediterranean sea, at least in the Upper Med where I am).
Murat why not a more detailed report?
and BTW: it seems like that new Seatec shoots pretty straight.....

Welcome back Murat! Last time we heard, you were engaged! Are you still in the forces?

Thank you for your kind words.

Spaghetti, There is not much story in those really. There were school of dentex. I made 3 consecutive aspetto-agguato with 10 minutes in between and each time they wanted to look from closer, but the result was not good for them:ko They all been cought in shallow water between 12-15 meters with 1.30 apnea. Actually with a well made aspetto you don't need to wait too much and those fishes are the results of efficient aspetto.

Sarah,

Yes i engaged and i was quite busy thats why i did not had time to dive. No i am not in forces anymore, my obligatory service ended almost a year ago.

Nice one murat, sadly i didnt see the photo, there are loads of Dentax off the korucam cape going down towards Akdeniz, also loads of Amberjacks hanging around the coast in 10-15m depth. give me a call when you have time, we can buddy up for some dives.

take care

peter.
