Hi all,
My buddy René and I tried our new stuff this week-end. It looks like the freediving-hunting season is back. For those who hunts locally all year long, you don't know what it feels like to wait for the ice to melt...or at least to break, and let us get in!
We dove with 5.5mm Dessault X-tend for 1hr saturday and 1 1/2hr sunday without feeling cold at all. We were wearing open-cell sox (6.5mm) and mittens (5mm) from Dessault too. I had a face mask that prevent water to touch any part of my skin. Except the water i put in to put the suit, it was dry diving!!! (past 30 feet, the suit felt thin, but you know...5.5mm in 0 deg water!)
Here's a couple of pictures:
In the 3rd, René's looking for a hole to breath!!! (that he found in the 4th) In the 5th, he's in an ice cave that was very amazing.
There're other pictures on René's website:
Ice Diving, March 10 and 11
