Hi folks, anyone having experience with a wetsuit from Idrasub? I'd be particulary interested in comparison against Elios alternatives.

Hi Jediz. I missed this thread back in May, but I can answer some of your questions about Idrasub if you (or anyone else) are still interested.

I have two custom-made wetsuits from Idrasub - one is smooth-skin open-cell and the other is nylon and open cell. Idrasub wetsuits are made out of Heiwa neoprene, and the quality of craftsmanship that goes into them is superb. I've never tried out an Elios wetsuit to compare quality, but I'm very happy with the wetsuits I have, which I've taken on numerous dives, though mostly in fresh water. I ordered them in the spring of 2011 and I still use the second one. That is, smooth-skin open-cell wetsuits are notoriously delicate, and one day I wasn't as careful taking off the jacket as I should have been. But I did get three years of use out that jacket before tearing it, and I still use the smooth-skin pants with the open-cell and nylon jacket.

Idrasub is a small and very professional workshop, located in the Val Rossandra suburb of Trieste, Italy. They generally do business with spearos in Istria, Croatia and north-eastern Italy, and cater mostly to Italian speaking clients. I would never have found out about them if not for word-of-mouth recommendations. I used to belong to a freediving club in Trieste and we got a club discount from them, though even without the discount (from what I remember) prices were very reasonable - less than Elios. I've been to their workshop a few times; once to get measured and then to pick up my wetsuit. I was so impressed with the quality of the suits, as well as the prompt and friendly service, that I gave them a translation of their website into English. They have not yet put that English version online, though they could probably compete on a wider market if they wanted to. It's a great product and I recommend them highly.

Thanks for your reply Raffy, I'm still intersted in ordering the suite. Their existence reached me word of mount too, when I asked in the local diving club in Czech Republic. Since it was the only reference I could could have get, I'm happy to hear a good word on them.
