Yesterday Ilaria set this new amazing record formerly held by Natalia Molchanova

The new distance to beat is:163 meters

video and interview today at 3:30pm (Italy time) streaming on www.europeevolutioncup.com
Later live streaming of both GIA and AIDA DYN competitions

Wow great performance congrats! Is it on video somewhere?

Thanks Gabriele, I thought it was just live streaming..

Finally that record is broken, and Ilaria did it in a a 50m pool making it even harder! Big congratulations to her, and there is a big possibility we will have new DYN record from her also...

Video is quite interesting regarding technique.. something new and might look strange, but the general idea behind it is right and have sense, and can work on some athletes.

I'm intrigued, they trying a new DNF technique that has not been done before in competition scenario?

I saw an older video of Ilaria where she did a two foot stroke/one arm stroke thing… (watch from 2 min) [ame=http://youtu.be/5hV09_GwiTI]ILARIA BONIN SUBACQUATICA 2012 - YouTube[/ame]

Wow, this is good to see, as my breast stroke interval training is this exact method. I have been told this is one of the best techniques to use whilst training for breast stroke by a few swimmers online.

I have also been told that the legs can create the most amount of power in the breast stroke. This may not be right with DNF under water because the arm stroke might have more propulsion than normal swimming breast stroke, but either way, more questions which is good :)

I think I'm going to start comparing normal DNF to what i've been training now to see when I get co2 kicks, see how long a length takes and my max distance.

I don't find much difference between 'normal' dnf and legs-only. Haven't tried a really long no-arms swim but I imagine distances would be pretty close. You have the advantage of staying streamlined the whole time, and you can carry a bit more speed between strokes.

Yer the streamlined ness would be better and also for the non-swimming backgrounds out there, training like this I have found when my arms are infront they relax more in to it than when I did normal DNF training because I've been holding that position for a lot longer.

Which in turn could make for a better dynamic because i'm not having to squeeze my arms in all the time just to try and stay stream lined and instead can relax.

Impressive performances, interesting DNF technique and very elegant DYN.

Quite the athlete!

Here it is the viideo:

Ah, so in plus it was in a 50m pool. Another argument showing that the pool length may not be that important as many claim. Congrats to Ilaria - very nice swim and a clean SP with a beautiful smile :)

It's impressive how strong and clean was her SF, means that she has lot of bullet to shoot!

Fantastic! And the technique is incredibly beautiful to watch... very elegant... I saw on apnea.cz she did 215m DYN this month also, wich is a great performance also... Perhaps Nathalia can get some challenge, so we can see the extend of her potential...

Interesting... Congrats to Ilaria :)

Congratulations to Ilaria!!! She has a very efficient breastroke kick and uses it to her advantage. Amazing dive :)
