I was raised with a snorkel in my mouth all summer at White Lake Wisconsin. I currently live in Illinois. I am now pushing 60 but recently took a spearfishing excursion in Cozumel and got hooked. I was trying to figure out how I could get some practice not too far from home. Illinois is not a spearfishing friendly state. I found your forum on a google search.

Hello and welcome on DB you googled properly and you got the proper forum full of info and expertise... tight your belt and enjoy your stay

All best :D

Craigos,

Try and contact ILdiver (Chris N.) who is a member on here. He lives down in your area and would be a great resource. He is a scuba instructor and has gone through a couple of levels of Martin's Freediving courses. He's also a very safe diver and all-around good guy- for a flat lander. ;)

He comes up to Wisconsin to dive with us on a regular basis as we are much more spear-friendly up here. You can also check out the Wisconsin section of this forum for more people who are, somewhat, close to you to dive with.

My grandfather had a cottage just north of White Lake and I had a chance to dive many of the lakes around that area in my youth.

Jon
