I'm not going to say the Wong guns are the best guns, but compared to any other gun I've ever used(JBL, Picasso, AB Biller) it blows them out of the water. I started fishing here in the Azores with a guy who's got a 55" Hybrid w/carbon barrel and semi enclosed track. He let me try it out and the gun is the SHIT! I'm getting one. I'm just going to have to convince my wife to let me drop $800 bucks on a hobby that she thinks I spend way too much time doing anyway. This guy had his rigged w/ a reel. I've never used a reel. I just use a floatline and bouy attached to my gun. I'm not going to be doing to much blue water hunting due to the fact that I don't own a boat nor know anyone who does, so is a 55" to0 big or just right and should I rig it w/ a reel or stick to my floatline and boogie board bouy. All my dives are shore dives, however I don't hesitate to make my way a ways off the coast because I use a boogie board float. I'm not real picky about what I shoot either, however I only shoot what me and my friends are going to eat. I really like shooting Veja(Parrotfish), Barracuda, Trigger, Cod, mackeral and I'm hoping to see an AJ. I've heard of people taking them in these waters. Any input would be appreciated.

to judge if the gun is too big or not, will mainly depend on things like visibility, species and type of background you hunt in (kelp, reef, caves/rocks etc...), i will assume that you have great viz and mainly hunting around reefs, the 55 (140cm by my calculations) would sound like a big gun (yes too big for this type of hunting), im assuming your friend uses it mainly for blue water hunting... i would recommend a euro type gun (there are many brands, like omer, cressi, beuchat, etc...) in the range of 90-100 cm for this type of fishing... if you then want to buy a blue water gun then get another one like the wong...there is no one gun that fits all (sorry but thats the truth)

Now: question for the Wong experienced guys (Bill Mac...anyone?). What's so special with the Wongs? I haven't won the lottery yet, so I keep my self convinced that Valerio Grassi's spearguns are the best. But if you convince me that Daryl's are the best, then who knows, some day...

The lifetime warranty and the great customer care that Dr. Wong provides can bring a lot of passion to a product, very understandably. I am believer of there is a gun for each different occasion. I've just got a similar example of that, I broke my princetontech surge flash light, but because they have a life time warranty, I've got a new one back, so my next light will definitely be a princetontech.

when i go to hunt turbot, a 40 cm asso is very versatile in stead of my 75 cm asso.....
whan i go hunting fish like the one bellow...a mullet....i take with me the 75 cm asso, because this fish can be verry fast and precision is nedeed

I have some friends in Brazil they hunt mullet for living, they use a simliar gun, also a pneumatic, the place they hunt the water is very murky, so they rig the gun with very little pressure so they can load the gun with one hand, allowing also multiple shots per dive. The other advantage is when they hit the mullet the fish stays in the shaft, so it is fast to remove it.

I still say...if you've got a bit of extra energy:martial for loading a Rob Allen 100 cm Caranx....with a 20mm single rubber.......this is the canon that works for almost for every occasion....and is extremely accurate.....no 2 ways about this!:martial

yes sheepeck, there are a few being driven around here! I lived in the middle east for a long time and had the pleasure of driving more then one
My brother in law bought one of those, just after the purchase as he was driving back home, the car broke. Picasso makes nice guns, associating them with a lada car is a heavy burden !

I like lada's! when I roll them it only takes 4 of us to right them! and the windsheild kick out nicely for the drive home
Don't mix apples and oranges, American guns sizes take in account the full length of the gun, not barrel length as euro types. So a 55 Wong is something equivalent to in between 105 and 120.
