I have been lookind at the Aluminate fins on the net & I called the supplier up & he said they would be suitable for spearfishing.

Anyone got any to comment on?

I'm keen to have foot straps rather than pockets.

I know Tribs has asked about fins but i'm clue less on what has straps or pockets.

If anyone can advise that would be great.

Many Thanks

HSF

Ok James.

But for what reason?

I don't really know the pros & cons?

I just got a new pair of boots & don't thnk they will go in pockets.

Cheers HSF

You get far better energy transfer from a solid foot pocket, open heel foot pockets means more potential slack therefore less thrust coming out of your kick. Plus i would see the straps/ buckles as another thing to break.

But then again were all different and open heel fins may well be the answer for you.

I wear wetsuit socks with Omer pockets.

I'm a size 10 and use the Omer 44-46 pocket. Its a comfy fit.

As already stated the power transfer is much, much better.

I scuba dive using a pair of strap fins from Oceanic. They are a pain to tighten without the straps popping off.

The other advantage with pockets is the ability to swap and change the fins.

Thanks for your points fellas.

As I just bought some new boots & do a fair bit of walking over rough stuff I'll look to stick with the straps.

I just have to find a suitable fin!

Cheers HSF

I use Cressi Rondine Gara's which are strapped and i can up the bootie size to the time of the year, i work underwater for hours at a time and to be fair i used jet fins for commercial work. my Gara's dont loss that much power, but hunting i dont go fast cause it mucks up my breathing pattern and bottom time anyway.

You don't say which blades you are looking at. Green or balck. Moe dive shops sell the blacks, but they are too stiff for most divers. The greens are much better for most of us. That's what I use. I chose them because I can wear 5 mm socks with them and they are plenty wide to fit comfortably.
I used a pair of original Cresssi Rondine Garas with straps for several years in the late 80s and early 90s. I found them to be better than the alternatives (original soft Dessaults).
My guess is you would be happy with thegreen open heel fins.
