At least its important to me.

Today is my 50th wedding anniversary, and I'm quite proud of it. I'm a very lucky man to have found such a tolerant bride.

When we went to my wife's parents 50th, they seemed quite old, so it puzzles me that we can be married this long when we are so young.:)

Congrats!!! That, these days is quite an accomplishment. I must ask............... what is the secret to staying married so long?

Congrats to you and to your wife!

Congratulations. You are one lucky fellow. I hope your wife got a big trophy for that.

Congratulations!!

Any marriage tips for those still on the market?

Love, Courage and Water!

Kars

Thanks for the kind words guys. I've never been one to put much stock in occasions such as birthdays or those invented by Hallmark Cards, but I'll have to admit to feeling pretty special about this one. It been bumpy now and then, but its been a hell of a ride overall. I feel so lucky to be married to my best friend, and our marriage just keeps getting better.

I don't know how to answer those who asked for secrets to success, but for sure its not a long courtship. We got married about 10 weeks after we met. It just seemed like the thing to do, and luckily it was.

We have a great young couple next door, and they came over for dinner and way too much wine, but then no one had to drive home. He is a diver and his wife is a horsewoman like my wife, so we had a great evening.

Here is a photo from 50 years ago, and one from tonight. We haven't changed a bit, have we?:)

Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary Bill and Mrs. Lawrence. :)

Ah yes, tolerance is a marvellous (AmE. mavelous) thing, if you can find it ;).

(Don't go eating all of that chocolate cake!).

Congrats Bill! A truly lovely story and I do hope i'm just as happily married in 50 years (well 48.5 years now) as you seem to be!

Congratulations Bill and Mrs. Bill! I love the pics - you guys look just as happy on your 50th as you were on your wedding day. It's a great thing to see.

A round of applause, Bill. I remember my parents' fiftieth. It seemed like a really long time. With my own coming up in six years, it doesn't seem so long, now. Hey, fifty down and fifty to go!

Well done Bill. Inspiring story, and proves one can be married and still go out diving and come back stinky and covered in scales for so many years. Gives hope to many of us.
