Important Beginner questions

Hello,

I am a beginner in spearfishing and i have a few questions.

1) When loading the speargun, whats the difference between 1st and 2nd notch?

2) Will the spear get damaged if it is shot against a rock when spearing for fish in their holes.

3) Is equalizing necessary at shallow depths? 2-5 meters?

and

4) I just bought a Beuchat Mundial Speargun and i was wondering. Is this little hole on the muzzle for an aditional band?

I'm not particularly qualified, and others will probably be able to help more but...

1. 2nd notch just gives you more power.

2. Hitting rocks will blunt the spear...but if there's a big fish... Also be aware of rebound of the spear.

3. Possibly not at 2m but definitely at 5m. Your ears should never feel uncomfortable. Equalising as soon as you start to go down makes things much easier than going even to 2m and then trying to equalise.
