Looking for freediving and spearfishing training partner and buddy. I am considering forming a club at UCSD before I graduate in december.

In the meantime, I'd like someone with whom I could share in a regular training regime, at gym, track, pool or ocean. There is the UCSD pool and I have a pool (unheated and only about 38 feet long) at home in Chula Vista.

Solo, I can get motivated at times but the motivation is much stronger when there is a training buddy for you to push and be pulled by in times of excess work and study or bad weather. I am intermediate level, experienced in many ways, but still feel that there is still so much room for me to grow in terms of performance and experience.

We could go spearfishing or lobster diving over weekends and if my boat works, head to Coronado's. A long weekend to Bahia de Los Angeles would be awesome.

Anyone from UCSD would be ideal, especially if they'd like to set up a freediving/spearfishing club up there to introduce freediving and spearfishing to the student body and community surrounding UCSD, but principally, for pushing regulars and semi-regulars to improve their training and performance.

All the best,

Jorge

About myself:
Graduate student/TA at UCSD
Age 29
50+meters dynamic apnea without fins
75+meters with fins
3min 54 sec static apnea
maximum depth: 55 feet
although right now I am comfortable at the 10 to 13 meter level.

HEY! This is awesome! I have been looking to get started in free diving. I am also a UCSD student (undergrad, about to graduate). I have been trying to find someone to train with (I am a 100% novice). I am very proficient in the water however, (swimmer, surfer, scuba certified). Email/message me for more info!

Thanks,

Jon
