With my love of the ocean and diving, I also wanted my daughters to also fall in love with the sea as well. My daughter Kristina loves the beach and has been snorkeling with stingrays, dolphins and manatees. She really loves anything to do with the ocean. However it doesn't hurt to give a little visual stimulation. :D :D :D

So since we have a new baby, I painted a ocean mural for their room. I don't claim to be an artist, so there was a lot of trial and error. The wall had a splatter texture on it which I didn't smooth out because I figured if the mural didn't work out I could always paint over it. I taped a picture to the wall and used a pencil and tried to free hand copy it as best I could. I did alot of erasing and painting over. I spent many evenings after work and on weekends and finally finished it.

Really nice Mural! if You struggle with the freehand then draw a grid on the photo and make a scale grid on the wall, it makes it much easier.

Way cool, dude! :D
You just wait, the little one will be sprouting gills in no time!

Nice job, Dallas. Should work too. That kind of thing can get deep deep deep inside the psche of little kids.

Kudos, Dallasdiver! With indoctrination like that, the oceans will be cared for through the next generation at least!

Well done.:)

That looks awesome bud, well done and awesome idea :friday
Too late now but what I found works well for doing murals is a overhead projector. Copy your pics onto transparents and throw them onto the wall moving the screen back and forth increases the size of the image, makes for very good artistry and all you have to do now is be able to trace :)

Thanks guys, I really enjoyed doing the mural. The turtle in the center took twice as long as anything else because of errors and then shading of his shell and all those platelets on his flippers.

The murals are fantastic! I love the Gorgonian fan :) they are my favourite soft coral :)

Hmmmmmm ..... :hmm how do I convince the boss that she should let me repaint what yused to be her dressing room and is now the baby's room from that mediterranean light yellow to an underwater scene......

My daughter wants me to paint the other wall in a "Artic ocean" scene with orca's, beluga whales, penguins, walruses and polar bears. I'm waiting to see what my boss says :D
