hi all, im upgrading my fins and would appreciate any information on the new omer bat 25 fins.. i currently use omer millenium plastic blades but need more push as i am 225 lbs {lard ass} haha. i stay relatively shallow. 30 feet approx, most of the time.
thanks in advance

I've tried the 30s, they were the worst fins I've ever had the misfortune to wear - wide and plank-like with no sensitivity or spring to them at all, much like plastic blades. Heavy as hell too. I haven't tried the 25s though, maybe they're miraculously better. That's just me, I know some people really like them. They are pretty much unbreakable, if that helps.

For about the same money I'd definitely recommend matrix blades - #2s would be about the same stiffness as the bat 25s at a guess.

I agree with going for the softer blades in either case, I think most spearos use blades that are far too hard. Just because you're strong enough to bend em doesn't mean they are efficient. I don't think that fins need to be stiffer as you dive deeper either - the opposite might be true, if anything.

Hope this helps - though I reckon the best option of all is to try them out yourself if whoever you're getting them from will let you, as fin choice seems to be quite personal.

Cheers
Dave

I support your opinion.

I love my Bat 30's. mostly due to the fact they are bombproof. after WorldWar3 there will be nothing left but Batfins and cockroaches....

they arn't so hot for surface swimming, but I like them for deep water up and downs

Our friend 'feign' has a pair that I've tried. They are very soft and efficient...beautiful fins.
Peace,
Erik Y.

The 25's are quite good for surface swimming. They are quite soft and fluid. I would recommend them if you have the cash. I have heard that the matrix blades are also very nice. I debated between the two, but went with omer.
