My name is Colum McCann. I'm a journalist and an author ("Let the Great World Spin," "Apeirogon"). I'm in the very tentative early stages of trying to write something about divers and Internet cable repair. I wonder if there is anyone here on this forum who might be able to help me? I would be very grateful. Perhaps you already know a good article or portrait that has already been written? Or perhaps you know of a place where I might find further information about this topic? In particular I'm looking for a one-on-one chat with someone who works in the field. In the interests of full disclosure, I am not a diver (at least not yet) but I tend to dive deeply into my subjects. In particular, I'd like to try to find someone who operates on one of the large cable repair ships (such as the Leon Thevenin), but in the meantime I'm basically just getting my toes wet, so any information at all (or any book recommendations, or websites/forums) would be wonderful.
