I did some heavy apnea sprints and apnea running that i'm not really used to yesterday (felt really good and i want to do it again but i noticed this morning as I was walking to class doing breatholds as usual a pain about 2 and a half inches below where my sternum ends and to the left right at where the edge of the ribcage is. I would feel it whenever i would have a contraction and also when i would breath very deeply. what do u think this is? should i lay off for a while or just continue training and see if it comes back?

Did you pack alot? I sometimes get "sore" after too much packing (combined with movement). If I do apnea running or some kind of weight training etc, I don't pack anymore because it just feels uncomfortable, you risk such injuries and training wise it brings no benefit what so ever...

Of course you should rest and wait for it to heal before continuing...

sprints can be pretty strenuous and it's not something you'd normally do with a huge lungfull. i hear that many top sprinters don't breathe during their run, but i doubt they do it on a huge lungfull. i think you use all your muscles in a sprint including your abs of course, so my guess is that you've probably just pulled/stretched a muscle or maybe a tendon around your ab/ribcage area. i would just leave it for a week or so and it will probably heal up by itself. you may want to take it easier with the apnea sprints. to be honest i'm not sure if they would be such a good training exercise because they're so short - probably better to do something longer, that lasts 1-2 minutes - like a fast walk or slow jog.

Similar thing happened to me laying on the pool bottom diving with RV only. Won't last long ;-) Try to stretch better next time.

Cheers!
