Hi Folks,

I'm just about to order my first freediving wetsuit from Elios and am wondering whether to get an inner lining or not. My question is this; is it worth the hassle of getting into an unlined wetsuit? Is the fit/comfort/warmth that much better on an unlined than a lined wetsuit to make it worthwhile messing about with lubricants etc? I will be interested to hear any thoughts on this!

Cheers.

YES!

If the suit is well lubed up with a mixture of water and conditionner it's not that big of a hassle to slide in and its so much warmer.

if it's freezing outside it's no fun getting into a suit that has to be lubed up.. no matter how hot the lube is it's going to be freezing when you put it on. I know. I wish my 5mil elios had the superstretch lining instead of being un-lined. my 3mil has the superstretch lining.. I like that.

When it's cold, suiting up outside is never fun, but I put the lube in a thermos, so it at least warms the suit up a bit. In any case, I'm more concerned by the comfort and added warmth while I'm actually in the water.

Are you talking about nylon lining or the copper/silver linings? Nylon on the outside is great for protection from coral, shells and lava and only costs a few meters in performance. The copper lining lets you put the suit on without lube (using a small plastic bag over your hands and feet helps) and costs a little in warmth, I guess. If the water is warm enough, you can reverse the suit and get the best of both worlds for only a few Euros more.
Aloha
Bill
