Just browsing guns this morning and nearly fell off my seat when I saw the price of Gabbiano's on the Spearo.co.uk site!!!

I bought my Elite 90 for £110 this time last year: the price has now rocketed to £180!!! A 64% increase on 12 months!!!

Now don't think this is because of any crazy exchange rate issues, due to the weakening Euro (thanks Greece & Spain!), it's approximately 10% cheaper to buy things from the Euro-zone now than it was 6 months ago.

Maybe Seatec have just massively increased their prices but whatever, that is one HUGE price jump - I'd be interested to know why the price has gone up so much - anyone have any more info on this?

Have to add that the new version is ALOT better and shoots alot longer!!!

The the new price sucks

The newest version of the Gabbiano was released early 2009, I purchased it for £110... only now has the price inexplicably risen to £180.

Broseidon,
The price went up approx 4 months ago, it is nothing new.
My prices were very cheap at the time you bought as I had not changed them since the Euro was at about 1.70.
Try and find a Gabbiano cheaper anywhere else
Rather than whinging about what it costs now just congratulate yourself on what a great deal you got (about £50 cheaper than you could have got it anywhere else at the time)
The Gabbiano is an expensive gun and I make no apologies for the price. There is still nothing at that price point that compares quality wise
cheers

Hi Dave, thanks for the imput, just to clarify, I'm not really whining about it - I already own one and don't need another, I'm just a bit shocked that gun can suddenly jump £70, it's not something you see every day! :D

But hey, if you haven't changed your prices for a long time, that's a good enough reason!

Ummmm....yes there are.

If I may play the devil's advocate (Dave being the devil here), in Italy too where they're made, Seatec prices had actually been quite steady for years. But then now the newer Snake and Gabbiano with VG 09 handles are significantly more expensive than the previous guns, in the order of some 20% or 25% more than the older models.

Years ago I bought a Gabbiano 77 and Snake 120 old handle for 130 and 160 euros. Now I'd be hard pressed to find them anywhere for less than 200 Euro's (note: they're made in Italy, so that italian prices are obviously lower than anywhere else).

Reasoning in british £, I see from the apnea.co.uk website that they're selling the Omer Cayman HF for about the same price as Dave's Seatecs. But Seatecs are definitely better guns than Cayman HF in my honest opinion.

Rob Allen guns are the same (ish) price as the cayman and gabi. Given the choice I would go for a rob allen.

the fact that Dave has waited this long to bump his prices up is pretty cool

I haven't posted or read for a while as my season is only just starting although I do enjoy reading the forums for the obvious reasons we all share.

However what I have noticed is there has recently been a 62% increase in fatuous, obvious and absurd posts. (and unnecessarily spiked)

I guess this also makes me guilty of the above but alas I am just finishing some work which is why I'm online so I do have an excuse. Writing this post has of course reminded me that I need to get a life quick or else I might end up wingeing like a pussy

cat.
