Interesting Freediving Article

I am unaware of any studies that show that at all and it goes against everything I have heard about Freediving in the last 16 years. However I will ping my contacts at DAN to see what they say.

I've been reading several studies about ama pearl divers, but do not remember any consistent health problems, or a higher level of demencia at amas as Spitball claims. In contrary, I was rather surprised by the high age at which amas still continue to dive. They usually do not retreat before 75 years, and often they dive even after 80 years old. And they often live to the age of ~100 years.

The only problem I remember being reported at pearl divers were related to Taravana, decompression, not to hypoxia alone. That's more comprehensible, since they dive for many hours, and with many dives per day.

Well if Trux didn't read of any consistent health problems related to long-term freediving then i really doubt that this 'spitball' person ever did. Probably just a overly biased person against freediving and trying to scare people away.

they definitely overplayed the death and danger element to spice up the article, as for comments i wouldn't pay much attention they are not educated opinions. I do think its great PFI is making in roads into the surf world could see allot of crossover talent eventually.
