Its time for me to buy my first camera for spearing, but which one do i go for. i understand there are other threads like this but these 2 are the ones i have seen which are more the price range for my first camera.
I have read reviews on here about the go pro hd wide not focusing underwater.
So here is the question, Intova Sport 8 or a version of the go pro hero?

Any help would be great

Ash

Hi ash

I dont know the intova but I found this on youtube.

Picture quality looks good for spearing.

In UK waters you really need a camera that can handle low light conditions otherwise you going to land up with a whole bunch of DARK useless video. I used to use the go pro hero 3 and that really suffered with low light so upgraded to a sea and sea dx1200hd

Heres a link to a video from my Gopro, you cant even make out the conger its that bad which is a real shame

My GoPro 2 case leaked, ruining the camera, while I was diving in the Armenian lake of Sevan and I am in the market for new one. WHat would you recommend? Should I go for GoPro 3 or Intova and if the former, then is there much difference between Silver and Black editions? Thank you.

thread-necro ftw! there is a lot of other options out there apart from GoPro. If you want the best, get the best. GoPro is the best. Their black edition cameras have amazing spec's. but you have to ask yourself, is the use you are going to put your camera to going to justify such high-spec high-cost equipment? I am currently using the Redleaf RD32/II when under the water. it cost a hundred euro.
Techmoan has a lot of very good reviews of lots of different cameras which may be suitable, depending on priorities. Techmoan - Techmoan
I would suggest that if a potential user cannot articulate to themselves why they need a top end GoPro, then they do not need a top end GoPro.
Feel free to view the videos on my channel to see the Redleaf rd32/II in action to see what a hundred euro can get you.

I hope this reply has some useful information for you.

I use a GoPro Hero 3 black edition. Amazing quality and the specs are uncomparable vs. other action cameras. But image quality is incredible, and is better is low-light too. Price is a little steep but worth it IMHO.

Make sure to buy locally with warranty just incase you need to replace it for any reason.

PS: If you do go for the GP3BE make sure you buy the battery bacpac. The stock battery isn't enough and buying the pacpac will double your battery length.
And you can always buy a snap-on filter from Polar Pro too if you dive deep enough, for better colour underwater.

I got my cam from szswill.com about one year ago, still works fine. Owned by truckers….came in handy...

As for the guy in Ontario with that video, it's hard to tell exactly what happened and from what perspective. The oncoming truck seems to have time to cut back behind the plow but doesn't, and he should definitely lose his license. Road conditions, load weight, equipment differences…playing monday morning quarter back is foolish and unfair. until it happens your own reaction is simply speculation. Cut the guy some slack...
