Hello from Ohio! This is an invitation to come freedive at Gilboa quarry in northwest Ohio. I understand the viz has gone to crap in all your lakes making spearing very difficult there right now. You will not be able to spear here but it is a great facility to train at. I think right now I may be the only freediver in Ohio and would love it if anyone wanted to come down for a weekend . The quarry has some fun wrecks to explore (jet, helicopter, school bus, boats, platforms at 25 and 70 ft) lots of awesome fish to see not shoot and almost always has viz in the 30-60 ft range! All the wrecks are on the shallow side at around 40 ft and the deep side drops off to 120ft. There is a rope tied off on the steps of one of the entrance docks straight down to 120 ft which is a great place to train for deep dives. I think Gilboa is only like a 4 to 5 hr drive from Chicago.
