Just checked most of the weather channels for the weekend and it seems as if the best bet for diving this weekend will be on sunday as it has the least amount of wind and even a bit of sunshine. Me thinks best bet on half decent viz will be Cape Point area though so well have to see what comes up, Ill give you a ring closer to the time and let you know... F&%#ING WEATHER, Wheres our summer :rcard :martial

howzit CapeTownGuy and Squinty Ive been of forum for a while, (work keeping me busy) but im now back with avengance and would just like to say good to meet you fella's. Deep Thinker and myself went for a lekka dive this sunday granted not very fruitfull.

We tackled millers point (yes i know false bay = sharks) but im kinda tired of shooting hottie's. Have to say it was a perfect day with very good viz. Saw lots of small gallies and small steenbras. Just couldnt find their mommy's and daddy's though i suspect they were lying deeper as the shore was fairly coldish. So if you guys want to hook up for a shorey just drop me a line. Jeff/Miles where would be nice places to dive up Arniston/Hermanus we have a comp this weekend and it looks like the water that side will be a bit better than at the point. And we have to enter from the shore. No boats allowed in this one.

And squinty yeah if you plan on diving anywhere in falsebay or the point then get a sharkshield nobody is sure how effective they are so dont put too much faith in it, but a 50% less chance of getting bitten is fairly good odds. Though im sure they are more effective than 50% Ones the taxman pays me a visit ill post the success rate of the shield, if i survive it that is

and yeah sharks are damn scary and i have to agree with miles comments if you aint scared your braindamaged.

anyhoo feels like I Just typed an essay and akrikel give me a shout when you back in SA it will be good to meet up with more spearo's

I know a great spot not too far from Hermanus Covert, it's a MASSIVE reef that breaks the surface, kinda like a big blinder, and very few people spear there. It's called Dyer island. It's about 20 minutes from Gansbaai by boat, in fact, loads of boats go there everyday, so you can probably catch a ride

Hey Covert,
Arniston is normally a good bet all year round if the weather plays ball.Shore dived there on Thursday the holiday and the water was relatively clear and warm.Swell was almost non-existent,check the photo of Saxon Reef which is normally chaos, flattest I have seen it in years.
Got a few breams for my effort as well

Thanks for the responses, yeah being a daddy sure is hard work lol loving it though, cant wait to get my little girl into a pink camo wetsuit with a 40cm speargun shooting some klipvis

Nice breams there CS. Yeah by the looks of the weather this weekend Ill have to find some hunting ground between rooi els and Arniston, I dont feel like traveling further than that.

Ill probably go to the club on wednesday so yeah it will be nice to meet up.

Nice one Dean thats a fatty you got there hey...
Do tell a bit more if you please

Thanks, the bigger one (3.39kg) was taken in a hole about 30m off the back of Roman rock itself in around 12m of water,he was swimming next to a Red Roman of about 2 kilo's,but I prefer bream on the braai The reef in front of the slip also has very good fish on it when the vis allows you to dive there, unfortunately my dive buddy's ears gave in so we only dived the one reef in the morning and were home by 1pm.

Hmmm dunno hey lets do both rofl Ill give you a ring and we can discuss the plans a bit later, I would like a viz report before we drive all the way there though...

Hes been very quiet lately though, probably catching monster tuna :martial
Doesnt you bro know some folks that way too??

lemme know when you okes decide where you gna dive and when, i wouldnt mind jumping in and doing a shorie somewhere round hermanus/arniston if its good viz! and more importantly if the lady doesnt mind! hehe
ill probably take a drive to hermanus , from gaansbaai, on friday so ill let u know what the water looks like there...
greg

reply yeah ill ask him tonight if he can find out for us, but that will be struisbaai only.

A viz report would be wicked and yeah your more than welcome to any shorey we will be attempting, worse case scenario its a day out and a couple of beers, best case scenario we assasinate some unsuspecting fishies.

As far a permission from the little lady you have two options,

1 give credit card and send it shopping.
2 we drag them along against their will

They must suffer the consequences of hooking up with spearo's
:ko :friday :ko :friday

hahaha, i reakon neither will work, dont have a credit card, and she wont come with and just sit there, lol
we meant to be having a weekend alone, so its gaansbaai from thursday till sunday and the shark dive inbetween...
ill work on it tho! heehee

worse case scenario its a day out and a couple of beers, best case scenario we assasinate some unsuspecting fishies.
Worse case doesnt sound too bad though, and you forgot the couple of beers after the best case scenario setup rofl
A viz report for gansbaai would be more than welcome though...

Im a bit in the dark about wether or not Ill be able to dive this weekend bro. I cleaved open part of my thumb with an axe last night :rcard and got 5 stitches and a very painfull to touch digit at the moment. Doc said it should start healing in about 3 days though so Ill know for sure by friday morning if its gonna be ok. If it comes down to it Ill just wear a surgical glove under my diving glove though.
Moral of the story buy dry fire wood and if you want to chop wood make sure to get someone else to hold the piece you want to split, any takersrofl

nice one man! lol....ummmm count me out for a dive if you decide to go! hahahahahaha
