So I have been doing a lot of breathhold walking, both on totally empty lungs and full lungs.
I would like to record my heart rate during full lung walks; first one just before starting to hold breath. Second just at end of static phase before starting to walk. Third just before stopping walk and starting to breathe again, fourth just after recovery noting the max pulse before it starting to drop and becoming back to normal. All this will give valuable info on how our training is progressing, how much you actually push it, kicking in of MDR etc.
Recording "old fashioned" way with pencil and notepad tended to draw attention away from the exercise in my opinion, making each repetition of the exercise more of trying to notice number on pulse watch and remembering right number to put down in the pad afterwards when recovered enough to be able to.... Mucking around with pencil, pad and badly lit display is not so conveniant during the dark winter months when I am also faced with snow, ice and temperatures hovering around freezing. On a MILD day!
So, I did buy a Polar H7 bluetooth heart sensor, and have a plan to find some sort of app for iPhone that lets you simply push a buton on the phone each time you want to record the momentary heart rate & time , and also analyze some graph of heartrate after you're done with the session.
The app I tried so far is Heart Graph; a free app that will show a nice graph but still have you note the time by some other means and at best make a guesstimate of the pulse at a certain moment. Anyone have a better suggestion for app?
I hope I am making myself reasonably clear for what I want; mostly just to record time and heart rate at the moment of a push of a button.
