Ireland spearing 2007

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
merry christmas lads was out on christmas day for the splash in the point for charity next dive is on the 29th in a lake in roscommon. hope ye are all enjoying the festive season.
 
Well done Feargus. One of us in anyway. I took the kids and dogs to sheepscove today and the vis still looked like about 1 foot. I've been out 4 weeks now and since my bodies probably no longer tuned to cold, I'll not go back in 'til the vis clears a bit. I've got a new Elios ordered so I'll want to try it when it comes. I got one with the "new black" lining. Anyone tried this?

got out this evening, off a beach on leitir mor. got in at 3.30, got out at 4pm, deepest dive around 8m the vis was very low, and at no point during the outing could i see the end of the gun clearly. tried slightly deeper but there was no vis there either, so decided to ''look for flatties'' which was really just diving until i felt the bottom and swimming with my face about 6 inches above the sand looking for shapes, think i would have had more luck in a bath, so called it a day.

was great to get out though. and pretty sure my 5mm elios will be warm enough for the entire year.
would really have loved some fish and perhaps some crab etc, as i got the river cottage fish book for christmas, and am loking forward to cooking out of it.

got my 2 month summer placment in a hospital in canada as well so will have to get as much spearing done as possible before the summer.
 
Had our lake snorkel yesterday vis was crapola got to the bottom at 7m at a balmy 6 degrees, suit was fine but the 3mm socks with plenty of holes were only there in my mind i think . My feet were like blocks getting out. The bbq was a bit of crack though and the weather was fine if a bit cold. not bad for the 29th of december though.

Hi fcallagy sorry about jumping in on your forum but I ive always been under the impression that lakes would have good if not amazing viz. I have often thought about diving ( without gun) one in slapton sands as I thought the viz would almost always be good. did you see any fish?
 
No fish to be seen scott but there were 9 or 10 of us splashing so stealth kinda went out the window. The lake was a spring so I was expecting 10m vis but it was not to be probably due to rain run off etc. In teelin donegal the first meter of vis can be crap but you dive under it and the vis is pretty good, no such look here i was just diving in blackness after the first metre. With the exception of a quarry all the fresh water i have dived in has been pretty crapola 1-2m max but you'll never know unless you go.

any truth behind this? a person can fish up to 5 lobster pots without a licence and have a bag limit of 2. anybody shed some light on this subject??
 
Not your fault.
This section needs a tidy, there are two Ireland threads 2007 & 2008 in this section.
The 2008 one should really be in the subforums area so confusion like this doesn't happen.
