Is a third band on a cressi sioux 65 too much?

I bought a 65 cm cressi sioux about a year ago. Not a very fancy gun with a hawaiian, but I bring it with me to complement my threebanded riffe when I go spearfishing since it is better in the holes and where there is a risk of hitting a rock. When I first bought it in Italy, it had a huge band on it that it made it useful only when shooting at the dumbest fish at point blank range. This annoyed me so I took out the band, and squeezed two small JBL 216 bands on the front end. This has increased performance in terms of range, accuracy and stopping power. Even when I hit rocks, the shaft holds up nicely, with an occasional dull point.

I am now considering using it more in the San Diego kelpbeds where there are less rocks but where there is poorer visibility that will make my RIFFE a bit annoying. I still feel like I want more stopping power to take on a 10 to 15 lb fish at 3m+. Outside of San Diego I could even use in very rocky environments to take out grouper or larger parrot fish that often have thick scales. It is possible for me to screw on the third band, and placing it on a third notch that I would have to make on the shaft.

Partly because of budget reasons and partly because I like the gun (its simplicity, small travel size) I've been tempted to do this but I have no idea if (or when) the extra bands could set off a shot accidentally. Any ideas, suggestions, warnings, or relieving thoughts?
