The question is in the title.

We've got a cottage booked next to the sea and are going to spend a week or so eating smoked salmon, haggis and drinking whiskey.:friday

Has anybody got any experience of spearing in this area?

Too far North for bass??????

Cod maybe?????

Angler fish????

If they can be caught on rod and line then they can be speared. common fish there are Cod, Turbot if You look really hard... same with Anglerfish, Pollack, coalies, whiting, gurnards, maybe bream, conger, rays... plagues of wrasse n doggies if you are that way inclined. Rays are also very common on the west of Scotland and in spearing range too.

I know the W.of Scotland pretty well- most likely species will be pollack / flatties. There are Bass in some ares but not,in my experience, in any great numbers - where are you going ? I may be able to point you in the direction of some good spots.
Don't believe any of the hype about the Gulf stream either - it's likely going to be chilly!

Have never fished from Tarbert so can't really be much help - Sorry!

Tarbert is on Loch Fyne is it not? if so... lots of shore anglers and boats out fishing according to all the fishing magazines. I haven't fished it Myself yet but its supposed to be pretty good.
