I have been searching the interet but I can't seem to find an open cell suit that comes in 1mm. The water gets pretty hot (especially the shallow reefs) down here in the summer and I have always just used a bathing suit with rashguard but I'd like to try a very thin open cell suit if there is such a thing.
Thanks

^----- check the Riffe suits out. I picked up a bottom pair and they were great, wish they made the top in all black as well *sigh*

You may also want to consider the standard most of us locals use which is the Omer 1.5mm Dahlak. In our warm water for many months of the year you only need the protection and not the additional warmth and buoyancy. The Dahlak has a lined interior which makes getting the suit on and off very simple and it doesn't retain as much heat as an open cell.

Open cell suits in less than 2mm are very fragile. A few years ago I begged Elios to make me a 1 or 1.5mm open cell/smooth skin freediving suit for here in south florida and was flat out declined. I ended up with a 2.5mm version.

Bottom line, strongly consider the Daklak.

:)

None of these wetsuit is taylor made. But, it shouldn't be a big problem I guess - in this thickness it will stretch well.

Thanks for all the info guys. Now I just have to decide which one :)

jimdoe2you, that certainly explains why I could not find a 1mm open cell suit!

Elios make a 1.5mm but line it with a nylon inner for strength. I think i got a freedown outer.

I use it under my 5mm in winter and its toasty :)

I have a 0.5mm dive shirt with hood from Radiator
The Radiator
which has neoprene but also a titanium lining. its very warm for the thinness

That is an expensive rashguard!

they were a bit cheaper when I bought mine a few years ago, but yes they are expensive. But really really warm - the inside sticks to your skin very tightly. Last summer holiday in the med I often dived for hours in just the 0.5mm long sleeved hoodie they sell, with only a pair of boardsheets, perfect.

I use a 1.5m titanium lined vest (nylon out) under my suit in winter - I'm sure you could get a whole suit made from it (elios)
