Is this person a British Freediver

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yeah Sacha lived in the UK for a bit and competed at the '98 team championships in Ibiza (I think). She later moved to Australia and she competed for Aus in the 2002 Pacific Cup. She hasn't competed since then.

Last I heard was that she took Foster in to Vanuatu by boat because she was worried he would drown if he tried it himself. Her involvement seems to be indirect as she was on the boat that all this happened on. Foster's been around for a long time and it's amaing that anyone would be associated with him. Wait, I know now.... he was married to Samantha Fox - that has to be worth a story or 2!

Cheers,
Ben

Thanks for the info. guys, you never know when the newspaper boys might be spinning a yarn...............

I wish she was more involved in Australian freediving. There are only one or two influencial names in Freediving that come here to instruct and train, and it would really be nice to see the sport kick off over here.

It's a work in progress Alon - there are incredibly few people actually interested in freediving in Australia, most are spearos that are just interested soley in that. It'll take a while for it to take up but there's a few of us around keen to get it happening. Watch this space....

We need you back here Benny :D

Sure I do like spearfishing, but it seems like the only thing I can find a buddy for is spearfishing. I even made my own freediving float with handles and a 40m line but it hasnt even gotten wet yet rofl

Yeah it is a very gradual thing.... I really would love to be a part of it when it does kick off.

Erez Beatus, the former head of AIDA Israel and now VP for Australia/Oceana, has now set up shop in Oz and will be there permanently. He's a great instructor. I haven't run the numbers, but I would bet my Oceaner Yamamoto wetsuit that during his career in Israel he trained more freedivers per capita than have been trained in any other country in the world.

Small correction there, NZ's Fran Rose is VP for Oceana/Pacific.

Cheers,
Ben

True, that.

I wonder why I thought Erez is Aus/Oceana VP. Was he ever?

More evidence of neuron death consequent of hypoxia...

Yeah Erez has become a good mate of mine :) he is in Queensland at the moment, but I am really looking forward to him getting back!

We have our pre-dive ritual of meat pies :D Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie!

Meat pie - the secret for success :)
Glad to say that there is a growing interest on Freediving.
And Alon - don't worry mate - the rope will get wet eventually... soon
Benny - hope you r having fun in the UK. Drop me a line sometime.

Ciao beautiful Linda :)
I have decided that you r all moving here to Australia.... We make a good community here.......
Conditions here are almost like the BH - 5 meter vis' , 3 meter waves, 15 degrees in the water and no depth from the beach... care to join ?
But i love the place, the water and the energy here.
I was so sad we didnt get to meet when i was in israel last time - the war and stuff, but it will happen again.
I promise to come and visit next time.

Give a big hug to everyone, end my love to the water

Pardon my irrelevant ignorance, especially any vegetarians, but what's a meat pie?

Australian hoppin' hamburger?

Else, I can only think of platypi (multiple platypuses), but I thought they were rather rare, and perhaps a bit overly chewy.

I've come across possum pie, possums being marsupial and all.

Clueless in Cal.
