Does anyone know whether the ISO setting affects the quality of video recording on a compact (i have the Canon G9)? just trying to improve the video quality.
Cant see why it should...
Any other tips?
Thanks.

I'll have a crack, based on what I know of underwater photography.

Higher ISO settings result in higher noise levels, especially with the sensors in compacts. Just like the gain on a guitar amp. With this you lose detail such as colour information and you get a drop in sharpness. The cameras internal software attempts to correct this but quite often the results aren't great.

Without higher ISO's you obviously won't be able to shoot low light as well though.
