Greetings everyone. Just found out that my freelance job is taking me to Israel for most of May in a couple of days. Looks like I'll be working quite intensively with little time off but taking some gear with me anyway. Hoping that somehow I'll be able to get my fins wet. I have no experience with the spearfishing/freediving in the Med coming from the frigid, green waters of the Baltic Sea and its coastal lakes and rivers. Last year thanks to the big hearts of a few kind strangers I got an apnea taste of the Pacific Vancouver and Lake Simcoe near Toronto. Hoping that this time I might be able to do that in Israel. Would appreciate greatly a chance to hook up with a local spearo/freediver for a dive or two or at least some advice/suggestions (e.g. should I take a full 5 mm suit?). Don't exactly know yet where I'll be based but most probably not too far from Ashkelon.

Hi there Piotr!
Thanks for the tip, will try.
So you've done PF Florida, Martin's Hawaii...what's next on the agenda?
Whatever it is I'm looking forward to watching another of those great videos you never fail to come up with when on a freediving binge.
Best.

Egypt too far, Dean's Blue Hole would be nice but for now...
back to Hawaii!:) after Hawaii there is only few places exotic
enough to compete with it. Not only diving conditions are amazing
but the rest as well, history, lifestyle, food etc

At the moment local pool makes me happy enough, I work hard
on my STA and DYN so next time I'm in HI I can say "I'm Kickass"

enjoy Israel, one ocean!

Enjoy Israel...amazing 7 month experience for me although I did not dive it but I did surf up and down the coastline from Akko in the north to Tel Aviv in the south.
Try to visit
Caesarea/Kibbutz Sdot Yam, [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caesarea_Maritima]Caesarea Maritima - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] & [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caesarea]Caesarea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]
Jaffa
and also Akko/Acre [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akko]Acre, Israel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]
there is of course much much more including inland.

cheers

Thanks for the advice guys. One way or the other I'm getting into those clear, warm waters somehow! Dove in my local Baltic waters yesterday. Water temp. at balmy 8 C....visibility excellent at about 3 meters...must seem like a joke to the Med community...
