For some reason, my mind has kept me away from my beloved sport for a few months now. My GPA has benefited
but my inner dolphin is fighting to manifest itself again. I miss cruising along the bottom of the pool. I miss late night apnea tables when I can't sleep. I miss apnea being a part of everything I do. It's about time I come back.
Competitive freediving is one of the most mentally demanding practices I've ever been involved in. When my mind is weak, so is my diving. I consider inspiration to be steroids for the mind. When my training falls by the wayside it's always a spark of inspiration that brings me back.
Sometimes the experiences of diving inspire me to continue. A good dose of recreational freediving often does the trick but living in Atlanta, that's not always easy to come by. Other peoples diving experiences sometimes inspire me- especially when accompanied by good music. Stig’s wonderful 166m DNF video, Lambis' new site, http://www.tripledepth.com/ (Check out the first page of pictures- Training Days... the pictures and music are wonderful).
Sometimes its non-freediving sources that inspire me- hearing of other individuals passions, movies, music, cute girls I meet at parties :girlie(it's no secret that freediving makes me feel much more confident and healthy in every aspect of life).
I want to know... what inspires you? Especially you competitive divers, but also recreational ones too. What injects you with mental steroids?
