I've been breath holding for awhile, and I'd like some help.

Hey, I've been training for a few months on static drys and got up to around 4:15, no nose clip, though. I've also been doing what I've termed "shower breath holding", static breath holds with my face in the cold shower. My time there is about 3 minutes. Lately, I've had trouble with my mental game here. Does anyone have any tips on what kind of attitude one should have? I woke up one morning to do it and basically had a panic attack, but I got a new record of 3:02. Some weird stuff. Any help?
