Hi,

i'm a novice at spearing and managed to jam the trigger mechanism on my commanche just as i managed to see a couple of decent sized fish today. :head
i'm not able to free it though can anyone give me some advice on how to free it please?

thanks,
jules

If the shaft is stuck in the mech, proceed as follows:
with slack rubbers (slack!!!!) hold the handle firmly, open the flopper of the shaft, pull the trigger and keep it pulled while you give a fair kick to the flopper with your toe. The shaft will get out.
Then rinse the mechanism by pouring running water into it, so to remove eventual sand or whatever.

also, try pushing it in more first......it happened to me on a commanche 60 (as i lined up a submarine of a bass!!) and i pulled and pulled but couldn't get the shaft out, then i accidentally pushed it in and hey presto, unstuck. Good idea to give it a rinse with fresh water though.

thats the worst situation, you've pulled the trigger on your loaded gun and nothing happens. then you've got to grab the rubbers... then it comes unstuck just as yer fingers go in to unload it...
happened to me my beuchat :( i always wear gloves now.

Sure, always wear gloves!!!!!!!!!

For Jules: try to play with your shaft in and out (still with slack rubbers) to see it's a problem of shaft's tail that doesn't fit in the mech.
If so, you can the tail gently with a file(gently!!!! just a little bit: don't scracth away all of the tail!). Try this until it's ok.

hey guys,

thanks for all the tips, i managed to take it to my local spearo shop where they undid the handle and trigger mech from the rest of the gun and it just came out then?!

i think the problem was to do with the way i had rigged the line that came with the gun to the spear, i've now changed the line to a nice neat crimped plastic line and the whole thing just seems much happier.

cheers,

jules
