Hey Guys,

I was going to apply for the JET Program (assistant english teacher) for 2007 and we are allowed request areas that we would like to be positioned. I would appreciate it if you could give me locations that have good shore fishing and diving (freediving). It does not have to be epic locations maybe areas that have reef and surf. I am particularly interested in Okinawa or the islands off Okinawa. My dad says I should look at Yaiyama (an island off Okinawa) but he does not know how the fishing is. I’m interested in both city and rural area’s as long as it is near the coast.

Any information, experiences, or suggestions about Okinawa or mainland Japan would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Roland

If you are interested in okinawa, I will suggest Ishigaki and Irimote Islands. These islands are closer to Taiwan than Japan. Both islands have excellent water, very good visibility. I don't know If they have the JET program over there though.

Hey thanks Chris,

I heard of Irimote and sounds great, but I don't think they have JET programs their though. I put in a request for Izena island, have you heard of this island? The pictures i've seen of it has been amazing but I don't how how much life their is in the water.

Roland

Aloha Roland,
The island of Okinawa offers a lot of good fishing and diving in itself. Not sure how much free time you are going to have, but no need to go to the outer islands. I noticed that you're located in Oahu, bruddah, plenty lost Hawaiians ova hea! I'm originally from Hilo. If you make it over here drop me a line!

A hui hou
