JBL Woody Sawed Off Magnum 53"??

I think the effective range is 18'. Its an OK gun but I just upgraded. It has some minor flaws that I find annoying. The shaft has a spring around it that is supposed to stop the shaft at the end of the line, well this ring has a tendancy to lock in place and you have to smack it back into position after firing. I also found the handle uncomfortable. It is a 2 piece handle and they don't mate together very well and you can feel it. I have also had the trigger/line release lock up on me twice where I have had to disassemble the gun part way to gets the parts working again (prolly sand jamming it). On the positive side the shafts are strong as I have smashed them against many rocks and never bent a shaft. The replacable speartips are nice as well, just dont go cheap and buy a spare single flopper. The single flopper will cost you fish. The triple bands were easy to load. Overall I would say a good beginning gun but you may want to upgrade if this is your first gun.

I had sand & grit mess up the trigger mech. of my railgun, so it's not just JBL's that can suffer from this. (Probably a different issue than the JBL: apparently the fibres they use to reinforce the plastic used in many spear guns can cause the plastic surface get fluffed/furry).
