Just a thought....... has anyone ever eaten jellyfish and if so, what did you think? With the current explosion of jellyfish we could be on to something.................. maybe:D

Would certainly help reduce numbers - I saw of lot of those big barrel jelly fish this year. Last year I saw only one (but quite a lot of small ones in Cornwall). Years prior to that none. Apparently the Japanese eat them - I'll see if I can get a Japanese forum member to join this thread...

I was out surfing with a mate the other evening and we actually had a conversation about wether it would be possible to turn them into giant haribo sweets......

There are certainly loads about, apparently they are in plague proportions around Japan, maybe a change of water conditions or removal of predators.................... who knows?:D

The Vietnamese eat jellyfish too. I'd had it in a noodle soup and in a salad type thing. Cut into thin strips and blanched I think. It didn't taste of much and has a strange texture - its kind of mmm... crunchy? it puts up a resistance to your bite then kind of crunches and is soft and jelly like - it's hard to describe.

There were loads around last week, 200m or so from shore. Cool to dive amongst until they sneak up and appear above you on the way back up. I did think about eating one but it's a lot of jellyfish to get through!

:D Hmm, giant wine gum!

Yes, man-handling one of those barrel jelly fish in the water & up the beach could be a difficult - and perhaps stingy - task too. Cleaning & preparing it could prove entertaining :D

Having the choice I'd probably forget the gum bit and just have the wine!
