Another gun built for my bro-in-law. He's hoping to use it down in indo for some dogtooth tuna and other BW game.

63" fully enclosed hybrid track (graphite/wood)
neptonics tuna trigger and components

3x5/8" bands

63" 9/32 shaft with wong slip tip

This is the gun I took with me on my last BW trip here http://forums.deeperblue.com/hawaii/87373-new-years-resolution-fulfilled.html

Reactions: Mr. X
Fine sized gun & nice & slim build too - very attractive finish.

I dig the muzzle area and the long sleek lines, nice build mate.
Cheers, Don Paul

Very elegant. I love it.

What's the thing with the line going through it near the tip - is it a slip tip?

sweet. thats #8? question? have you noticed alot of oxidation on the neptonics handles from reacting with the SS screws? i took some of my earlier stuff apart for service recently, and noticed quite a bit. i wish we could get those in polished stainless steel. the xtra weight would be in a good spot. is that a flip flop onthe butt? how did you glue it? i use the epoxy. 1 gun has withstood 2 FULL seasons with one of my friends who regularly abuses his equipment. he barely rinses the stuff off. and the flip flop is still holding strong. others have told me to screw a piece of pvc to thegun and glue to that. but i havent had a problem as of yet. you?

Whats up Jason? I have noticed the oxidation on the aluminum handles. Josh does make those handles in SS but you have to order them from him and they cost around $70 but they are a little heavier which I like for my bigger guns. On the last batch of anodized aluminum I noticed that the coating looks a lot more durable than the first batch. I couldn't even scratch the back of the handle. I think these are going to hold up much better than the first batch.

The slipper works awesome. Havn't had one come off yet. I just score the but end of the gun and glue it with epoxy/microfibers.

love it mate, muzzle looks awesome. what timber did you use? teak?
cheers

Yes, the timber is teak. I really want to stop using it but until I find a suitable replacement that doesn't require an epoxy coat I dont really have a choice. There is a product in the states called "american teak" which is actually a hickory that has gone through a kiln and chemical process. Supposedly it takes on the properties of teak and is a little more eco friendly. the problem is that no one in Hawaii carries it yet and I don't order enough of it to warrant the freight costs.

i have a guy who makes stocks for spearguns. he has teak and american teak. the american teak is 60$ the teak ones are 100$ so i ordered some teak ones and he sent me a free american teak one. it is very dense. VERY. i never really used that gun so i 'm not 100% sure, but i bet it is way heavy in the water. almost as heavy as cumaru or ipe. i made a mid handle out of it, so the weight would distubute easier, but i figure it to be too heavy to use, so it sits in a closet. i ponder robbeng the parts off it all the time, because i really dont want to sell it, its too heavy. maybe to a scuba spearo. anyway, the american teak is not a good substitute in my opinion, bubinga i heard is good. its a little too dense too. mahoghany is the cheapest, but then you have to epoxy. i like the epoxy coatings myself. just get the surf board resin (system 3) it come out good. way better than if you use west sytem, even with the special clear hardener for coatings. ther are definate tricks to it. but the results are nice when you get it right
