So latly i have been working on my co2 tables, and i have been doing 1 minute holds, 8 times, 120 second intro, then 1 min rest period decreased by 10 for 8 loops.

and a few days ago i tried holding my breath for a max hold and i got 2:06, with contractions starting at 1:30. well today, i did my daily breath holds, and i felt like today was a good day to try 2:20, did it fine, about 3 contractions, so i tried one more time for a final hold, and did 3:04 for a max hold, about 12 contractions.

any tips for going even longer?

:) :) :) :)

well i was happy about it , so i posted.

Congratulations!!! you've broken through the 3 min mark!! now keep doing those tables but now use 1:30s and you'll keep improving!! :)

another tip... don't try a max the same day you use the tables... it wears you out

Make sure you're doing a 5 minute facial immersion with the mask off and just the snorkel before your breath ups. So many people don't do this part and it is so important. I am at 4:50 and will get past 5:00 very soon!

what do you mean? even when im not in the water?

My bad! ................I was completely thinking about wet static when I typed that. :)

Hey thats great, congratulations!!! I also thought of posting my PB breaking experience. It was last tuesday that I finally reached the magical 5mn Barrier. I am training 5 days a week since 2 months now and my performances are increasing consistently. So now its a lot easier to deal with contractions (I train in no breath up style, so there are lots of contraction to deal with :D) and I did a really nice and clean 5'18". I am still stoked from this because a few months ago i would never have thougt of reaching these times. Now i have one goal left: The 100m mark in Dyn with fins. But i think this should only be a matter of a few days :)

enjoy your dives,
Christophe

If your at 5:18 static, then 100m dynamic should not be an issue at all!!!

If it is, .........you need to start working your CO2 tables.

im at clean 5:15 and I still can't reach 100m... :(... CO2 tolerance is teh suk

Mates!
Holding a breath 5+, it can't supply the break the 100m barier
one is 50m+ is a barier other is 100m+ barier is sticked in brain, mentally needed to break first,
i mean 2min breath hold can break 50m , 4min breath hold can not DO it, when you do breath hold on bed, let say you close epiglotis, too , you think nothing comes in but very very little comes in from your noise, you can not fell it, in water everything changes, needs more parameters to know for dynamic

Hello again!
I don't think it will be hard to break the 100m, it's just the fact that i could not train dyn with fins because they were afraid of my big monofin at the pool, and a little bit worried that i could hit someone :D . As i wrote i really think it's just a matter of time (and occasions) because i trained a lot doing apnoe cycling, so i guess my Co2 tolerance is pretty good!

Have a nice day :wave
