I wanted to say congratulations to Kathryn on what surely is one of the greatest pool freediving performances of all time!

I feel honored to have had a chance to spot her on a dive at Vertical Blue 2008.

Now if she can figure out what is limiting her in the ocean, she can challenge the men's record in CWNF (currently 86m)....

Impressive yes - but actually what Kathryn did today was a 169 Dynamic with fin, not DNF as stated by the newsbot.

What is impressive also - is Kathryn holds all the Womens NZ national records.

Guy Brew also gained a new national record today with a 8:05 Static

Very exciting competition all round!

Thanks for the support though guys - we'll see how the next few months go...

Congrats Kathryn and Guy to your new NRs!
Wish I would have come to see (video) it today, too!
I was attempting a new record in free immersion into my couch instead. (ouch). Keep up!

Although the 169m DNF was a typo Kathryn looked fine at the end of her 150m swim, so with another turn and pushoff.....
